Project: "engaged schools"

For children, exercise forms the basis for a physically healthy and intellectual development.  At no other age does movement play such a decisive role as in childhood and at no time was movement, based on our changed lifestyle, as important as it is today.  More and more often, children are showing  noticeable problems due to a lack of exercise, like for example:

- movement disorders

- posture weakness

- coordination problems

- excess weight

- playing and learning difficulties

- psychosomatic problems

- lack of selfconfidence

- aggressive behavior

- inhibition, withdrawal

Educational establishments have the task to provide children with a healthy environment for learning and development. The goal should be to firmly establish more exercise in the learning and living environment of school. Simple, effective forms of exercise should be encouraged and tried out daily. Trampoline swinging is fascinating to children. The feeling that they are flying increases their joy when exercising. Simultaneously, important motion and perception systems like for example balance, senses like hearing and seeing, and our total body coordination are trained when exercising on the trampoline. But our ability to concentrate and our physical endurance are also increased.

Scientific note:

The connection between the ability to concentrate and to move was examined in a study at the University of Cologne (2002), concluding that children with a good overall body coordination and balance possessed a better ability to concentrate. It has been known for a long time that it has a positive effect on students if there is time each day to exercise whilst at school. A study at the University of Frankfurt (1997) proved that children are then less aggressive, more concentrated and attentive, and have a greater learning ability.

New research (10/2008) at the University of Aalen amongst more than 3000 Hessian students in class one to ten confirmed that students displayed fundamental deficiencies in balance tests and that students with bad balance have significantly lower marks at school.

Conclusion:

The mini trampoline is therefore a device that doesn’t take up much room, facilitates exercise and also has a positive influence on the development of children.
