According to a recent survey on behalf of the DAK health insurance company, more and more children are suffering from back problems. Already 6% of the six to eight year old children complain of intense lower-back pain, 15% of the nine to ten year olds do, 21% of the eleven to twelve year olds and an incredible 40% of the thirteen to fourteen year olds!

The reason for this, according to the 100 pediatricians questioned, was unanimous. Nowadays, children don’t exercise enough (98%), watch television instead and use the computer too much (95%).

According to sports professor Ingo Froboese from the German university for sport in Cologne, children now only walk an average of 900 meters but sit in front of the computer and television for almost four hours a day (in addition to time spent in school). The body however needs continuous exercise impulses to stay fit, and this is especially true for children who are still developing. They should be skipping, climbing or jumping.
