Men´s Health Week is from June 15 through the 21st this year and now more than ever is an important time to be discussing healthy male lifestyles and being proactive.
As stated by Bill Richardson (Congressman),“Recognizing and preventing men’s health problems is not just a man’s issue. Because of its impact on wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters, men’s health is truly a family issue.”
Exercising, eating healthier, and spending more time with family laughing and enjoying yourself are some of the best medicines one can take. As you get older, focusing on your health becomes even more important because of issues that can arise with age, heredity, and external factors. Making sure you are getting regular checkups and able to spot health issues early on, as well as taking steps to prevent future health issues, are all key.
Health issues on the rise...
According the WebMD, some of the top health threats to men as they get older include:
- Cardiovascular Disease
Roughly 12% of men over the age of 18 are in poor health, equating to around 18.5 million males in the United States, according to a study by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . This is a big issue because now more than ever it’s easier to stay fit and eat better, yet so many of us are not taking the steps to do so.
The funny thing is, it’s not that hard to simply look yourself in the mirror and say “I’m going to do it”. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s make a pact to get healthier.

- 20 - 39 years old every 3 years
- 40 - 49 years old every 2 years
- 50 and older every year
