New research, published in the German Journal of Sports Medicine (Deutsche Zeitschrift für Sportmedizin) this February, reconfirms the effectiveness of rebounding exercise to significantly improve fitness, even when following a relatively light workout schedule.
In the bellicon blog post titled, “Avoiding Winter Weight Gain,” we referenced an article published by the National Institute of Health (NIH) about a winter weight gain study that first appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine.
A new study, published in the International Journal of Sports Science, has concluded that rebounding exercise is twice as effective at improving aerobic fitness and 50% more efficient at burning fat than running. It also showed that exercising on a mini-trampoline increased vertical jumping ability.
The study was conducted over a period of 8 weeks with participants exercising three days a week and otherwise maintaining “their usual diet and lifestyle habits during the study period.”
The American Chiropractic Association’s website is a good resource for people with back pain. Not surprisingly, there’s an emphasis on the benefits of chiropractic along with a search function for finding a local practitioner, but they also offer very helpful information for back pain sufferers.

Below are links to two different articles which describe how the lymphatic system functions. The first is from a very interesting website called “Lymph Notes,” and the second is from the National Institute of Health. The NIH page is actually about the immune system, but shows how the lymph system works within it. Both are clear and straightforward.
The “Textbook of Medical Physiology” is one of the the most respected and widely used textbooks for medical students. It’s popularity is due to the fact that it’s packed with an enormous amount of complex, technical information about human physiology, but it’s written so well, and phrased so clearly, that it’s accessible to people who may be new to the subject.
Darren Barker is a British boxer who, on August 17th, 2013, became the International Boxing Federation world middleweight champion. His first opportunity to gain the title had come two years earlier, but he lost the fight to Sergio Martinez in the 11th round.
