“Here
at Pilatesbody in Munich the bellicon® trampoline is a popular
accessory device for the Pilates exercises and ideally supplements the
classical repertoire of mats and large exercise machines. Bouncing on it
is fun, increases proprioception (sense of position and kinesthesia)
and assists balance as well as coordination. Because of the mat being
unstable, the deep lying, stabilizing muscles of the body and legs in
particular are strongly activated.
In our advanced Pilates classes (Pilates 2 and Pilates 3), as well as
in the Pilates classes for athletes (athletic Pilates), we like to use
the bellicon® at the beginning of the class during the warm-up phase.
The aim thereby is to activate circulation and fat burning.
During this phase, we do the body awareness exercise whilst standing, that is swinging, on the rebounder. We verbally lead our clients “through” their body and aim their focus at correct breathing and the positioning of their pelvis, ribcage, shoulder blades, throat and neck. During this phase, the spinal column is gently mobilized in several directions. This stage generally lasts between 15–20 minutes.
Then the Pilates training phase follows, in which exercises in
standing, sitting and lying on the trampoline instead of the mat are
performed. Depending on the course concept, this stage lasts between
20–40 minutes. Towards the end of this phase, we use the bellicon® to do
the final lengthening exercises.
The bellicon® trampoline is
suitable for all ages and fitness levels, whereby our qualified teachers
adjust the exercises, intensity and tempo to the constitution of the
clients each time it is used.
This rebounder isn’t just fun, but
also fulfills the point of a health orientated training. It therefore
fits perfectly into our exercise philosophy: to gently train our body
from inside to out!”
