"The movements are all gentle, without straining the joints. It helps “loosen up” the body and rekindles a taste for movement. I recommend the stabilising bars to people who may have balance issues, or who simply feel apprehensive about exercising.

In detox programmes, the bellicon® is an incomparable asset for getting the lymph moving and so draining toxins: the successive pressure on the soles of the feet creates a pumping effect that activates the lymphatic system.

STRENGTHENING THE PELVIC FLOOR

For prevention or rehabilitation of a weak pelvic floor, I recommend very gradual exercises on the bellicon®, drawing on how the person feels so that they steer the progression themselves, from very gentle vertical swaying all the way up to classic bouncing exercises.

REHYDRATING THE INTERVERTEBRAL DISCS

I advise my clients to do various exercises on the bellicon® to prevent dehydration of the intervertebral discs and the compression that can follow. Here again it’s a “pumping” effect (gentle extension–compression) on the discs that allows them to rehydrate properly. In cases of confirmed spinal problems, the bellicon® only comes into play during the rehabilitation phase, and very gradually, once the problem (herniation, bone spurs, etc.) has been resolved through gentle stretching and pumping exercises without equipment, or through surgery if necessary. In every case, supporting the person with a good lifestyle overhaul helps prevent recurrence.

DECONGESTING

Quite simply, gentle vertical swaying without the feet leaving the mat is very useful for congestion (after a heavy meal, for example), headaches and facial pain (often linked to a sluggish liver), or insomnia caused by dwelling on unpleasant thoughts: after just 10 minutes, the gentle bouncing of the tissues sets the body’s fluids in motion and decongests the tissue. The “hypnotic” swaying chases away fixed thoughts and a very pleasant drowsy feeling sets in quickly. Because these effects are so pleasant, I recommend this use of the bellicon® in the evening before bed to clients under stress.

WAKING UP THE BODY – LETTING JOY IN

This is unquestionably the first effect people notice! An almost instant awakening of the body, very useful after two hours spent working at a computer screen, or revising for an exam. The joy that comes with this awakening is very helpful for people prone to low mood, or who simply lack energy for everyday tasks."
